Arta Wedding Photography, Glasgow – Julie & Brian

Glasgow Wedding Photography
Arta, located in the beautiful Merchant City area of Glasgow City Centre, is a stunning Spanish Hacienda styled building that is a pretty amazing location for a wedding.  Julie & Brian had planned their wedding for over a year and approached me to shoot their wedding after I had been the photographer of their newborn son (Finlay) a couple of years before.  Of course I was delighted and very proud that they chose me to capture their very special day together and in such a beautiful and vibrant venue.

Arta is indeed an amazingly atmospheric location. When you enter the building you immediately see and feel the Mediterranean theme that has been created – It’s lit by candle light only and the archways, statues, paintings and rustic furniture all add up to this being a fabulous wedding venue – Now it is a challenge for any photographer to shoot a wedding here given the low light levels – but with knowledge and appropriate top of the range professional equipment, I had no problems shooting there (although I have to admit to being a little nervous on the day).  I was sure though everything would go perfectly….. and it did!

The Arta wedding organiser (David Smith) was a gentleman and very helpful.  Pretty much everything ran on schedule (apart from a 20 minute delay caused by one of the guests having their car towed away)! A tip…. Do not park on the double yellow lines in the city centre (even on Easter Sunday)!!  But you can see why David is a Vows award-winning Wedding co-ordinator. He was there throughout the day and nothing was too much trouble (even for me, the photographer)!

Julie and Brian’s wedding was an emotional, loving and happy day. They loved and laughed through it all – including through the photographs which really helped them relax and enjoy the whole experience.  I love it when couples just enjoy themselves like that – it makes for some very special memories.  It was an honour to record their day!

My brief for the photography was actually very simple – just shoot some natural images of them enjoying their day.  Well that’s how the day started but I also discussed taking a few more formal images to record them together on their wedding day.  The rooms within Arta as are really terrific and of course they were happy to (even although they were a little wary of having to pose).  But after a minute of shooting down in Arta’s stunning “Red Room”, they were hooked! I showed them a preview of one of their images and they were wowed with the results.  From then on they were happy to have some quiet time together as we shot a few images around Arta and the Merchant City area.  They just enjoyed their time alone whilst my assistant Mary (who always does a sterling job) and me got on with our job!  It was starting to cool down though and we only stayed outside for a short time – but again captured some amazing images.  I really enjoyed being a Merchant City Wedding Photographer.  Finally it was time to capture their first dance together before heading home to upload and back up their images before bed!

A really amazing day was had by all and we all wish both Julie, Brian and their son Finlay all the very best for their future .

If you would like to discuss your Arta Wedding Photography (or wedding photography any other location is Scotland), please feel free to contact me.  I would love to capture some amazing images for you.

Please feel free to view the images from our day at Arta.
